LONG BEACH, CA – Tulsa prevailed in four hotly contested sets against Santa Clara, getting 12 kills with no errors from Callie Cook to advance out of Round 2 of the 2019 NIVC. The Golden Hurricane (17-15) has reached the quarterfinals and will play the winner of Friday’s match between Wyoming and Weber State for a chance to advance to the semifinals. The Broncos end their season with a record of 21-12. Tulsa trailed 14-13 in the fourth set but grabbed a 19-15 lead on Cook’s final kill of the night. At 23-20, Maggie Hembree’s kill gave the Golden Hurricane match point, and Tulsa clinched it on an error by the Broncos. Taylor Horsfall had 16 digs for Tulsa; Hannah Overmyer added nine kills. Julia Sangiacomo had 18 kills and 15 digs for Santa Clara; Allison Kantor added 13 kills, and Taylor Odom had 12 kills. |
