LARAMIE, WY – Weber State had trouble protecting some early leads, but the Wildcats kept the faith and got past host Wyoming to advance to the quarterfinals of the NIVC. The Wildcats (26-8) will play Tulsa in the next round, with date and site to be determined. The Cowgirls end their season at 22-9. Wyoming came from a 24-21 deficit to win Set 1, and Weber State almost stumbled again in Set 2, watching the Cowgirls come back from 18-12 to take a 24-23 lead. The Wildcats scored the next three points to even the match. In the fifth set, Weber State jumped ahead 9-6; a Wyoming error pushed the Wildcats up 11-7, and they finished it off with kills from Megan Gneiting and Rylin Roberts. Dani Nay had 22 kills for the Wildcats; Roberts had 15 kills and Aubrey Adams added 13 kills. Ashlyn Power closed with 62 assists, tying the NIVC single-game record, and Helena Khouri had 27 digs. For Wyoming, KC McMahon had 26 kills, and Halie McArdle added 13 kills. Carlie Fiske added 11 kills. Mackenzie Coates had 56 assists and Madi Fields had 36 digs. |
